Western Digital Intros Terabyte Laptop Drive
Western Digital has introduced two new WD Scorpio Blue SATA 2.5-inch laptop drives, offering either 1 TB or 750 GB of storage.

"The two models are targeted at laptops and mini-desktop PCs, such as the Apple Mini," writes InformationWeek's Antone Gonsalves. "The drives are likely too big to fit in netbooks, mini-laptops that are selling faster than any other PC category... the new products include WD's WhisperDrive technology for quieter operation. The drives also include WD's shock-resistant technology, which includes parking the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down and when the drive is off."

"The WD Scorpio Blue 750GB drive (model WD7500KEVT) is available now through select distributors and resellers, and the 1TB capacity (model WD10TEVT) is available now configured into My Passport Essential SE USB drives," writes Computerworld's Lucas Mearian. "The suggested retail price for the 1TB model is $249.99; the 750GB version is priced at $189.99."
