Vista's encryption could vex investigators | InfoWorld |
"Ross Anderson, professor of security engineering, told Members of Parliament on Tuesday that TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chipsets [...] could also lock up data on computers, he said."
I dunno about everyone else, but I've been aware of encrypted
filesystems for quite a few years now. I've never had a great deal of use for them on a personal level, but I've experimented with a few of them, and read about a heap more.
I'm rather amused that it's not until Microsoft plans to include it in its next release of Windows that a so-called 'professor of security engineering' realises that encryption might be a problem for investigators.
