Vista Backup Bug
If you're upgrading to Microsoft's Vista OS, hear this; if you're running a CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup, you're going to need a patch. That's because a previously patched exploit is now sporting a brand-new working exploit. CA's manufacturer, Core Security Technologies Inc., made the announcement nearly one month after patching the first vulnerability. Experts are concerned that more vulnerabilitieslinks will appear with the rise in Vista users, only because the OS is backwards compatible, allowing most hardware to operate smoothly. So smoothly, in fact, that many vendors may not take the extra steps to Vista's security codes to their products. Since Vista is touted as one of the most secure OS on the market, it's wise to do so.
