Toxic Terabytes
Filed in archive Technology on October 25, 2007
When it comes to technology, I'm more than a little bit of a skeptic. Sure, we all have problems that could be potentially devastating, but I tend to take claims made by vendors with a large grain of salt and a margarita chaser. Yet if the PR is to be believed, you're facing untold numbers of crises in your data centers. Accumulating data, retrieval nightmares, data dumps - how do you sleep at night?
When I first saw the headline for IBM's latest white paper, "Toxic Terabytes", I'll admit to hefty skepticism and to muttering a sarcastic "Nice alarmist headline." Yet upon reading the paper, it has merit. There are some very real problems that could turn toxic, as they say, should they be left unchecked. Luckily, the white paper, offered over at the Ziff Davis web site, addresses ways for you to tame the toxic beast and return to a peaceable kingdom of technological contentment.
