Symantec adds de-duplication

Veritas NetBackup announced the integration of data de-duplication as part of the standard product on Jun 10, 2008. Now integrated with their continuous data protection technology this stands to be a very powerful combination. Plus the new offering will be part of the standard package where they were available as bolt-on products.

De-duplication is important for backup strategies because it can drastically reduce the amount of storage capacity required for full backups.
