Stocking the Larder in a Good Way?
Maybe the problem isn't in your SAN. Suppose for a minute that the problem is that you have a SAN. That's right - the reliance on a SAN is just exacerbating the problem. Would you believe it?

Dell would like you to. That's because Dell believes that iSCSI SANs are allowing instant access to data that really doesn't need to be accessed all that quickly. Furthermore, while iSCSI SANs are great for small enterprises, larger entities should not rely solely on the technology. True, speeds are improving - up to 10 Gbps - but for higher-performance needs, it should not be the curelinks-all.

Read the Dell opinion on the Ziff Davis web site.
