March 01, 2006 - Novosibirsk, Russia. SoftLogica LLC announces the release of Handy Recovery 3.0, a new version of its Data recovery software designed to restore accidentally lost files. The program supports FAT12/16/32 and NTFS/NTFS 5 file systems including image recovery from CompactFlash, SmartMedia, MultiMedia and Secure Digital cards.
Handy Recovery uses an Explorer-like interface to browse the contents of your disk. The difference is that after analysis of your disk, you can see deleted files and folders along with the regular ones. The program shows the probability of successful recovery for each file.
Recovered files can be saved to any drive accessible on your system. You can also restore the full branch of the folder tree that contains selected files and folders. Along with the main file data, the program can recover alternate data streams, used on NTFS to store additional information about files.
Handy Recovery features an option to create disk images for deferred recovery. You can create an exact image of a logical drive and save it to a special file in another location. It is later possible to open this image and recover files from it.
All commercial interests aside, this looks like a fine addition to your file/system recovery toolkit. There's a 30 day limited trial available, and the cost is only US$30, with volume discounts available.
More information available here, with a screen shot of the program interface here.
