SNIA lab shows iSCSI is for real

Techworld.com - SNIA lab shows iSCSI is for real:
I don't know about you, but I've been hearing about iSCSI from vendors for years now. I've always steered away from it, preferring to stick with either pure fibre attached into a SAN, or ether
attached into a NAS (using NFS mostly, occasionally CYFS/SMB).
iSCSI always looked attractive, but I could never really bring myself to invest the time and effort into trying to make it work for us. I guess, in part, I just didn't trust it - it was too new, and I could never find references to other people out there doing similar things using it - more traditional methods Just Worked.
It seems that iSCSI might just be ready to fully enter the mainstream.
From the article:
The results were impressive, and the conclusion has to be that yes, iSCSI really works, and yes, it is a practical solution for small SANs - assuming it's not asked to run over an already-congested LAN of course.
I'm looking forward to it reaching my part of the mainstream...
