With so many data centers working toward consolidation, it seems more than a little odd that a new storage method attempts to do just the opposite: Split it up into pieces. This off-beat method is being proposed by Cleversafe, and it involves users building their own storage grids. Built on dispersion technology, the software is touted as much more secure. Each data slice is its own separate record, not tied to any other data in the storage environment. That makes breaches a lot less painful.
