Sick of Storage?

Sick of Storage | Computerworld Blogs:
Y'know, I could live with this guy's job.
I have discussions with storage vendors of every size, from the "two guys in a garage" to the multi-billion dollar guys and everyone else in between. They share with me their new products and roadmap. I remember one end user customer came up to me after a presentation I gave and asked me a question about a number of emerging products and technologies. He shook my hand and said he wished he could focus on all the cool new stuff that is going on out there instead of dealing with IT problems all day. Who could argue with that?
I'm still in the 'deal with IT problems all day' type job - from the 6 failed disks in the brand new SAN, to trying to find out why the application runs so slow on the brand new dual CPU dual-core
Opteron based blades, all, of course, why management is demanding to know why the project's behind timeline (answer: when two of the four in the team quit, and you don't replace them, it leaves us kinda busy. When you land a new deal that hinges on that (my) team, and STILL don't replace them, then all estimates that I gave before they left can be regarded as a work of fiction for all the good it will do you).
Anyhow. I'm having a case of job-envy at the moment - particularly, I'm envious of those who only have little things like deadlines to write about, who can spend their time doing the research, the learning, the understanding of new product offerings. I'm also aware that this blog (and my other one) have been left to lie fallow for the last week or so - something that I'm not overly happy with.
Time for some work-life balance.
