SanDisk Intros iNAND 64GB
Filed in archive Cool Products on February 16, 2010
SanDisk has introduced the SanDisk iNAND 64GB, the company's first 64GB smartphone chip.
"The new flash drive is designed to allow the phone maker to install the OS, system code, and can be used as mass storage on one device," writes TweakTown's Shane McGlaun. "Since the device is bootable, the phone maker will no longer need separate storage for the system code and user data reducing the number of chips inside the phone."
"The trick in this 64GB 32nm silicon gem is the same-old X3 flash technology (along with undisclosed, but evidently significant, 'innovations in flash management'), which allows each cell to store three bits," writes Engadget's Richard Lai.
"We understand the highly competitive environment in which our customers operate," says SanDisk director of mobile product marketing Oded Sagee. "By leveraging the substantial experience gained with our X3 NAND and significant advancements made in flash management technology, we offer our customers a very high return on their investment."
