Quiet Delivery
What's the deal from Samsung? The company has released its 1 terabyte hard drive to ... no fanfare? Odd, but true. The drives were sent out into the market without the usual hoopla that typically surrounds a new product release. SpinPoint F1 1TB uses just three 334GB platters, a record in both areal density and platter capacity.

So what gives? Why the silence? The company's not totally mum on the new drive. samsung claims that the lower number of platters will make its product more reliable than those offered by Hitachi and Seagate. Still, there's a question as to the drive's economic efficiency given the difficulty in making the drives.

It's tough to say. But the silence from Samsung could be an indication that they intend to let the product do the talking.
