Overcoming the Wall
Security legislation has managed to put data centers against a very rigid wall - comply or else. Complicating matters is the need to protect data from testing phase through production. In many cases, the existing data center department does not have the knowledge to determine which data-masking technique to use or in some cases how to apply that across the data life cycle.

In an attempt to help data centers bring some sense to their data puzzle, Compuware has released an informative, 12-page white paper with 12 steps toward securing and implementing a Data privacy solution. Mind you, these are steps to take in order to ensure a successful implementation - from figuring out what your needs are to choosing a product based on those needs and what deliverables your company requires. Not a bad guideline. To view it, visit the Ziff Davis Web Buyer's Guide.
