ioSafe, Inc. Announces Fireproof, Waterproof External Hard Drive
Filed in archive Cool Products on January 17, 2009

This week, ioSafe Inc. introduced the ioSafe Solo, a waterproof and fireproof 1.5TB external hard drive. According to the company, the drive can protect data in fire temperatures of up to 1,550 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes, and underwater down to a 10 foot depth for up to three days.
"ioSafe's patented FloSafe cooling vent technology provides air-flow cooling to dissipate heat during normal operation," writes TechRadar's Mark Harris. "FloSafe technology also has the ability to detect destructive heat levels and automatically close the vents to protect data from fire."
"For $199 you can get a 500GB model, but, since this thing is pretty bomb-proof, you'll have a hard time upgrading the drive in there, so you may want to go straight for the $349 1.5TB model," writes SlipperyBrick's Conner Flynn. "Early adopters will get $50 off."
