What is the best storage system for your needs?
Do you even know where to start?
Do you have time to search through all the specifications?
Let's face it, it isn't easy to figuring out everything you need to know when selecting storage equipment. Well, I personally like it when vendors provide assistance in this regard.
HP has a storage product selector that is pretty cool. Just choose from their product family, select your application if applicable, and then start checking the boxes for the features you would like. For me, I selected the basic 'Disk Storage System', with my application being 'Oracle'. I then checked an iSCSI, RAID, and Linux boxes to show I would like these capabilities. There is then a storage capacity slide bar to tell how much storage you would like.
The really cool thing about this selector tool is that, as you make your choices, the different storage systems that match your criteria will re-arrange themselves within the list, giving you an ordered list of choices.
I also like these tools because it quickly narrows my field down so that I can then do pointed research on viable storage systems. After researching at HP, you can then start searching for other comparable vendor products.
