Alright so it's not very green of me to suggest this, nor is it very efficient for a lot of people's lives. As a work at home mother my life is often in disarray. I am not as organized or as tidy as I would like to be. However, the one thing I do keep neat is my filing cabinets full of invoices and other documentation off of the net.
I guess it is from my years as a teacher where everything had to be meticulously documented both on our computer network and by hard copy. I know it is a little old fashioned but I just don't trust my computer for all my storage needs. After all, we are talking about a computer that has gone out twice, been replaced twice, and once had grape juice spilled all over it.
I have learned my lesson about relying on the computer for storage. I now have a backup personal hard drive as well as hard copy prints of everything I deem important for my business. I have used discount printing services to help me with a lot of my documentation. As far as my business goes discount printing companies can help me to print out colorful invoices and charts and what's great is that they do most of the work for me.
So all I am saying is take the teacher's lead. Save everything and print everything. Then you will never have to worry about a technology crisis costing you your work. Just make sure you save those printed copies in something water and fire proof if you have three kids.
