Does SATA tape measure up?

SATA tape: Why not? | Computerworld Blogs:
SATA tape is just one of those technologies that just seem to make sense - a no-brainer if you will. In fact, if you really think about it, you might wonder why it hasn't been brought to market sooner, especially since, as one tape vendor put it, only a "little retooling" is necessary to make it happen.
I'm sure I'm one of a large number of people who are looking for a good, affordable small-network or desktop backup solution. I'm not amazingly concerned about speed, just about reliability and price.
At my day job, of course, we have tape libraries, and dedicated backup servers. We've also got hundreds of servers and terabytes of disk. At home, I've got one server, and 3 desktops (My powerbook, my Windows box, and my fiancé's iMac
), and about 300 gig to back up - most of which rarely changes.
Hopefully SATA tape can bring the price of this sort of thing down a few notches, so those of us with non-enterprise level requirements can actually afford half way decent backup...
