Data Overload
Filed in archive News by Lori Widmer on April 19, 2007

data storage in 2006 reached a staggering 161 billion gigabytes. Most of that is in email. By 2010, that number will be six times larger. That equals one zettabyte. And your company is responsible for keeping it secure. Not all of that data is your company's responsibility, obviously. But the study drives home the point that data storage is a growing problem that has all the earmarkings of one that could escalate out of hand quickly. That means the IT manager's role will become more important and more complex. With data storage costs rising right alongside the demands of more data storage, the challenges for IT managers are destined to grow.
