Hi there.
I'm Andrew, and I'm your host here at On Storage.
What's this all about? Well, storage. Mostly enterprise storage systems, technologies, tools, that sort of thing. I might dip into the consumer realm once in a while, but only when I think it's particularly interesting – I'm not going to be talking about the latest greatest compact flash card, or a USB thumb drive shaped like a duck.
Me, I'm a 14 year systems-admin veteran – not as long as a lot of you folks out there, but longer than a few of you. I'm an open source fan, but not a Microsoft hater. My day job is Windows, Linux and Unix, at home I'm OS X, Linux and Windows. I'm nothing if not flexible.
I've worked with a lot of lower end storage – small NAS type devices, and some older NetApp kit. Lately, I've been working on slightly bigger stuff – probably solidly in the mid-range – HP EVA 6000 SANs and EMC Centerra gear. Lots of fun, lots of good learning. I'm so looking forward to getting into a good consolidation project.
I've been a Creative Weblogging Author for a couple of years now. Initially, I started the Gadgets Weblog, which I handed over to Tiago late last year, so I could focus (heh) on Digital Shot, which covers prosumer and professional digital photography.
Outside my day job, I take a lot of photos, I train in Aikido, I spend time on my 'bike, at the gym, with my fiance, our cats, good friends and on the net. Strangely, I don't have a whole heap of free time – go figure.
If you have any suggestions for me, want to abuse me for getting something completely wrong (hey, I'm human, it happens), have ideas, comments, whatever – feel free to mail me at andrew@creative-weblogging.com.
That's it for now. Take care.
Andrew
